Bucketlist (Done/still going...)

Today dad came into my room and asked me what was different about him.
"Your hair is thinner?"
I'm mean like that. Dad jokes like that.
"No. Well, yes. But no.... I am not wearing shorts! I am now wearing pants. It is now fall."
"Oh, okay."
"You see Rosie, People get so caught up in dates. If you want to know if it's fall yet, just look at Tim Ninesling's pants. If they're shorts, it's officially summer. If they're slacks, it's officially fall. Therefore, today I announce is the true first day of fall."

And so that is when I realized that I really really really needed to update my blog about the end of summer. Remember a long time ago that summer bucket list?...

Some things I did not do. Failure? Not quite. I'm still going to do them. I also did things this summer that I never accomplished on my Summer 2011 Bucketlist, such as make a dress. (so I get points for that, right?!?..)

Here's the review:

  • Go to a Ranger's baseball game. I've never been. Ever.
  • Okay so I'm still looking at tickets. Chaz got me a sweet Ranger cap and tee, so I'm DETERMINED to go. I will go. I'm going.

  • Watch an out-door movie
  • Actually, I watched TWO outdoor movies- The Artist, and Midnight in Paris, both shown at the Nasher.

  • Go somewhere new via bicycle
  • I did. I took off down a street I'd never been, and it was pretty neat. All the houses were old and sweet and at every house, people were sitting out on their porches, drinking tea, yelling on the phone, playing frisbee, or simply sitting. I love neighborhoods like that. Makes me feel happy.
    • Nighttime swimming
    YEP! At my PaRTay!

  • Watch all the Harry Potter movies (almost done with the last book. AHH!)
  • I'm ashamed- but I didn't. I watched the first three. But the waiting list for the fourth was really long, and I just....didn't. :((

  • Invent a game you can play in the car
  • It doesn't really have a name, but it goes like this: When driving down a street with lots of buisnesses and stores, you have to create connections between the different shops. Let me explain. For example: If King's Crown Tire Shop was next to Saint Peter's Catholic church, I'd make the connection that the tire shop is like the Church, because Jesus is the King of Kings, and the name of the shop is "King's Crown". Nerdy game. I find it rather amusing.

  • Read a classic
  • YES. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Read it. Love it. Make a copy of the last page and tack it to your wall for motivation. (I did...)

  • Try a food you've never tasted
  • Mushi. I know I spelled that wrong. It's this really chewy sweet sticky rice. Imagine really solid jello made from rice. And extra bonus points for me, because Mrs. Hironaga taught me how to make it! ;)

  • See something in a different way
  • This goes back to a Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I guess you'd have to read it to understand, but it showed me the many faces of alcoholism. It showed me mother's love. It showed me that persistence can be burned with fire, burned down into a tree stump, but new sprigs of green leaves will grow from the ash in the spring. It's not all over.

  • Teach zoe a new trick.
  • YES! I set up two paint cans, and layed a long bamboo stick over them. Then, I got Zoe to run across the yard and jump over it, and crawl under it. I was proud. :)

  • Take a night time photoshoot with friends.
  • Oh lordy, yes. Just yes.

  • Have a mango-eating party!!
  • Chloe and I, midnight, seven mangoes, gone.

  • Try to fish. Although I would never actually keep the fish I caught.
  • I did....at Corpus and I used a ziploc baggie and my fish was three centimeters long, but heck, it had fins and gills and was a fish so you bet that counts.

  • Get all my little nieces together and have a little-girl slumber party.
  • I'm still taking advill because of this. ;)

  • Repaint the cabinet I keep my shells in.
  • It's all sanded and taped.... I just need the paint..

  • Discover a groovy band. SUGGESTIONS ANYONE?
  • YES! Kelsey suggested "The Mountain Goats" and they're pretty darn good! Also, a folk singer named Jaymay is pretty awesome. Also Jean-Luc Ponty, the violinist from Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention really can play a violin, jazz style.

  • Make a mixed-tape for someone who needs it.
  • I made Arlie a mixed tape of my favorite French songs. I'm not sure if she needs it....but..

  • Make necklaces for the old ladies next door.
  • Gah, I feel AWFUL. But I semi-forgot about this. However, I'm practicing to play a mini violin concert at an old-folks home (is it okay if I call it that??) and that has to deal with aging people, so...

  • Go somewhere beautiful. And it doesn't have to be miles away, either.
  • Corpus Christi. I'm in love with salt water.

  • surprise someone.
  • I left a home-grown basil plant on Tammy, my neighbor's, porch. I don't know if she was surprised. But I really really really hope so.

Also guess what? My old old vintage Mac is gone. :( I mean, it's still here, but it became so slow (20 minutes to open up the internet), that my parents bought me a PC. A PC! It's soooo different from my old mac. I mean, you just press buttons and things happen! I'm used to waiting eight years to check my facebook!

School- it's good. I'm alive. And Anatomy/Bio is fun. And my English teacher is great. History's pretty swell.  And my friends are fun and life is life right now, and I'm living.

    xoxo
