Summer day two + bucketlist

Jeez-louise I haven't posted in probably forever because school has dominated my life for the past three weeks. Between chem packets, and math tests and french exams that are très mauvais the only thing that I was able to enjoy was puttting on my headphones before I went to bed and listening to inspiration.
Every end-of-the-school-year I pick a song and make it sort of my "anthem". Last year was Jessica Lea Mayfield's Blue Skies Again. (Listen: here ) This year was Corinne Bailey Rae's Put Your Records On. It was kind of funny, the way I discovered this song. I was sitting in my living room in an old tee-shirt on a saturday that was supposedly my "study day". My head was fried. My parents were gone. So I did the reasonable thing and plugged my ipod into the stereo, put the knob on max and, looking for a new song, went to pandora (a great app for you app-getters). The first song played. Regina Spektor. The Genius Next Door. Probably one of my favorites. Then someone new played. Someone with a sweet  voice and a catchy beat and inspirational lyrics. I stood on the couch and danced. This sounds highly toddler-like and more than likely it was, but I didn't and still don't care. It automatically became #1 on my chart and I listened to it every day till the end of school, and even this morning while I brushed my teeth.
Now for my bucket list. Every summer, it's also a tradition that I make a summer bucket list. So here's my rough draft for this year's. I'm probably going to add things and scratch things off, but that's to be expected.
  • Go to a Ranger's baseball game. I've never been. Ever.
  • Watch an out-door movie
  • Go somewhere new via bicycle
  • Watch all the Harry Potter movies (almost done with the last book. AHH!)
  • Invent a game you can play in the car
  • Read a classic
  • Try a food you've never tasted
  • See something in a different way
  • Teach zoe a new trick.
  • Take a night time photoshoot with friends.
  • Have a mango-eating party!!
  • Try to fish. Although I would never actually keep the fish I caught.
  • Get all my little nieces together and have a little-girl slumber party. This will be hard.  Very hard.
  • Repaint the cabinet I keep my shells in. Maybe a coral orange? ;)
  • Discover a groovy band. SUGGESTIONS ANYONE?
  • Make a mixed-tape for someone who needs it.
  • Make necklaces for the old ladies next door.
  • Go somewhere beautiful. And it doesn't have to be miles away, either.
  • surprise someone.
  • do something unexpected.
  • show love.
At the senior graduation thursday, I saw the boy in the wheel-chair that I talked about a few posts back graduate. I cried.

  1. Rosie! I just wanted to say that I love your precious blog:)

Have you heard of The Mountain Goats? Super amusing yet talented band! Courtney told me about them when they performed in Denton. She also told me about Doug Burr, who is a well-known Denton, TX native. Listen to his song "A Black Wave is Comin'" because it's beeeaaautiful.

Hope you're doing well! Happy summer!
